private Ablation
It was about £10K in 2014 when I had an ablation. at the Liverpool Heart and Chest hospital. This was paid for through Private medical insurance so there may be preferential rates. Also excludes all tests and consultations both before and after the ablation.
With hospital "hotel costs" and other extras between £12 and £15,000 from recent posts. Look up past posts on the subject in the search facility. Most large hospitals charge about £500 a night from reports so if you were in for two days that is £1000. Also depends on sedation or GA as you would have to pay extra for the anaesthetist I suspect.
I was quoted 15k for London 7 years ago but I've heard lower amounts quoted on here. Of course this could escalate if complications, minor or otherwise, crop up.
I was quoted £10,000 in 2005 for a PVI. But, and it's a big BUT, he said that if something went wrong and in the unlikely even they had to call in a surgeon, it could be £50,000. Worth checking out the costs if something happens, i.e. is it a fixed price with guarantees.
When I was considering having my aortic valve replacement privately it was in the private wing of an NHS hospital. The surgeon said is you need a pacemaker or anything else not quoted we will wheel you down to the NHS theatre and do it.
NHS is brilliant and free! ( obviously apologies if you are having a long wait just really wanted to say they really are top notch on hearts if you wisely choose your EP by research and hospital etc. ) good luck with procedure when you have it
Best wishes
Sarah
Ps. I live in Brighton. Great department and highly recommend Dr. MaCreedy. He also does private work too and is passionate about his work and very experienced.
Dr Jack McCready is my hero EP and did my third ablation wonderfully, two years ago. So far, all very good. Wonderful man. However, it was NHS and I had to wait nearly a year, which was three times longer than my previous ablation wait, a year earlier and before that, in London.
It was well worth the wait in the end.

Can only echo what my GP told me. Why would you want to pay to see a consultant or an ablation when I can get you the same operation in the same theatre for free?
Granted I have no idea what your lead time is and I was looking at a year until they made a clerical error which reduced it to 3 months for my first and 3 weeks for my second.
About $6000-$8000 in USA, Kentucky. July this year.
Is the 6 to 8 after insurance. I know my ablation was very technical and time consuming. Insurance was billed over $140,000 US and the paid around their contract rate of $90,000 . My out of pocket for year was the $5,000 or so deductible.
Sorry I didn't get back to you . I have had grandkids and not been on site. I will get my paperwork and give u exactly what it cost. The ablation itself was around$6000. That did not include preliminary tests and ekgs-just the surgery. I am on Medicare and my bill that was not covered was $468.00. That was in July. I hope there are no more bills coming forward.
In Australia $45,000. I delayed for a year waiting for the 12 month delay for the private insurance to kick in. I'll get it privately ASAP if I need it again.
