Look through past posts.

You really need to put more information up (history, meds, etc, etc, for people to make focussed comments.

I see you were on this last year but stopped it due to respiratory symptoms. I agree with Peter that you need to give some more information, to get useful comments, but there are lots of past posts about amiodarone. It sounds like you don't like the idea of taking it, but it is commonly used but requires monitoring of bloods and also eyes and chest of you are symptomatic. I guess you know this.

However it will hopefully control your af

I was on it for a couple of months a while back. I had no side effects during the day, but found that I experienced what can best be described as night sweats which stopped as soon as I came off it. Hope all goes well for you.

Took amioderone for 2 years to control AF. No side effects but did go for blood tests and chest xray every 6 months.

it is very effective and worked well with me. My cardio took me off it after three months sighting possible serious side effects. As long as you do not take it for too long (6 months) you should be OK

It would be OK short term, if you are reasonably healthy. I have been given this medication after using Metoprolol and Sotalol.

it was given to me whilst in A & E.

It did stop the palpitations, but I would have been kept on this if I hadn't jumped up and down, (11 months) I tried to get off it by 6 months. My GP and Cardiologist had to monitor my Thyroid which it apparently effects as well as all the other organs listed. It takes a few months to get out of your system.

I will never go back on this drug, and don't like the idea of Sotalol, which is still recommended in Australia.
