Not good I know but although it would be nice to have reassurance before this, i would say that you will know more how things are going closer to 6 months. I had my appointment at 4 months and I think that was probably too soon to make a decision about a second ablation. I think more scar tissue formed after this. X
As you know it takes three to six months for the heart to heal after ablation so I can see why an early appointment is often a waste of time. Presumably you have contact with an arrhythmia nurse specialists should you have any worries?
I think you are better off with an appointment in 5 months rather than 3. As bob says 3 to 6 months. If you unfortunately hit AF before then you can always contact them. In any event I suspect that even if they have appointments in December they are not giving them out because of the Junior Doctors Strike. After all the hospitals will have to rebook all of next week's appointments at their very least.
No follow up appointment at all at the hospital where I have my ablations done.

Don't worry Lindabob......after my ablation, the ward staff said my review would be in 3 months, but the EP told me 6 months when he finished the procedure. As Dedottie said, I do have access to the Arrythmia nurse if I have a problem, but neither you or me will need to do that......(not easy typing with crossed fingers!!). You have done one better than me......my review has not been confirmed yet, but should be in January......good luck.

Your knickers are not in a twist, you should have been told this before the ablation
Hopefully you are cured so you probably don't even need the February appointment. But I guess it will be nice to have a final chat before you entirely forget what the EP.... and AF.... look like.....
I'd suggest that this is just a 6 month recall, not a surgical follow up/ Contact the surgeons secretary and ask her to check with him the date, explaining that he had told you he wanted to see you in 2-3 months time. Mistakes can, and do happen, but if this is because the people concerned have no appointments before then, I would ask them to refer you to someone else on the team who has time for you to be seen. I have always been seen after 8 weeks for ANY surgery or invasive procedure, and can't think that ablations are that different!
With ablations 3 to 6 months is reckoned to be the healing period but for some it can be 6 to 12 months. Depends on a number of different factors (eg extent of burning, extent of AF, etc), the patient's healing capacity, etc.
A number of people have had episodes on here in the 3 to 6 month period
