Hi Mazza - This may help you.
I had a cardioversion last Friday and since then have discovered that the valsalva maneuver will stop any AF attacks. It didn't do much before then! I breathe in, hold my breath, really tense my chest area and bear down and hold like that for as long as I can. Just give it a try.
Best wishes
Jean
Thanks Jean tried that and the hot cold shower the last one was my 6CV looks like no 7 on the cards
Sorry it didn't work. So annoying for you. I think I equal you in the number of cardioversions I've had.
Have you tied reaching your arms up high and really stretching and holding? In fact stretching in any way, also bending down towards your knees as much as you can and holding. Putting an ice cube in your mouth, drinking iced water, putting your face in iced water. Or half a teaspoon of sea or Himalayan salt dissolved in a glass of water.
Have you taken any tablets for it other than bisoprolol?
Best of luck. I know just what it's like.
Jean
Yep everything I can't take any other drugs I have lqts that's why I can only have a CV that's why it's such a pain to go to ED I have to go through the whole rigmarole as they always want to give me drugs .although I have now got a letter from my cardio so that should help let's hope it settles over night .keep well xx
Thought I had found the answer as I have been using a CPAP machine and have felt better but can't be the SA causing it
@mazza23 There are many triggers that set off afib and they are different for different people BUT caffeine is a really bad afib trigger for me--and tea has caffeine- I have found that if I eat any of the triggers I get high bp then low bp with high heart rate as high as 120 and irregular sinus rhythm- for me the triggers are (alcoholic beverages, caffeine, large macrolide antibiotics, quinolone antibiotics, aspirin, NSAIDS , cortisones, chocolate and even pure organic cocoa from Belgium, any kind of sugar, wheat, gluten, processed foods, artificial ingredients, NSAIDS, peanuts (aLTHOUGH TREE NUTS ARE FINE). and Salt.
When I avoid them the heart is fine.
It is really complicated sometimes, but doable to avoid whatever triggers it.
