Difficult life-change, used to be extremely active.

I have atrial fibrillation paroxysmal about 30 hrs a week and get very depressed by it. It happens quite regularly and means I have only a five day week, as I have to lie down and read while the palps are on, and then I have to rest the next day as I am very tired. Have had two unsuccessful ablations. Am new here.

Welcome to our world. When are you having your next successful ablation? I had three before mine went but that was 8 years ago.

Your description of how you deal with an AF episode mirrors my experience exactly, including having to rest the following day once back in normal rhythm, it is a challenging condition, isn't it. Perhaps, as Bob says, if you're offered another ablation it will be the one that works, and you'll then have the opportunity to enjoy life to the full.

All the best, Kate

You don't give any timelines. Is it time to see the EP again?

Very sorry your ablations did not work. Did they help at all? And do they recommend a third? Perhaps a different medication will help. I wish you the best.

Thank you they wanted to do a third, but since I am 76 and found the previous 2 very traumatic, I said I would try to live with the problem. Am investigating magnesium and potassium.
