Our next meeting on the 21st of May entertains the Electrophysiologist Muzahir Tayebjee. The poor man has a huge set of questions to answer! We meet at the Nags Head in the village of Askham Bryan at 12.30pm for lunch. Usually one course and a drink. Some of us even have two courses, they just can't do without their sweet! This is a very informal and friendly group sharing their experiences. You can get to Askham Bryan off the A64 York ring road and sits about a mile behind Askham Bryan College. If you are new to the group 'phone Fiona on 01904796400 or me on 01977689858. Mo: 07967730010 and leave a message and I will get back to you. Dave.

Do you know if there are any groups further north. I live in Tyne & Wear?

Hi! Voyagersprit, Sorry cannot help you there. Why not start a group yourself? There was one or two keen folk at this end i.e. Mother Hen and it took off from there by advertising our wares on this blog. We find it is a very social event but gives that added bit of confidence to your progress. A venue was chosen, time and date and we were off! We also had someone in the group knock up an A5 advert. hard copy to pin on hospital notice boards. I have seen A4 posters hard copy as well for other groups. Look for the relevant places. For example if you have a Cardiac Unit, Clinics, Doctor's surgeries. Even the local Sports centre where they have heart rehabilitation classes may have interested possibilities. Speak to people and enquire about suitable spots. Good luck. Dave.

Hi! Voyagersprit. Well there you go. In the AF Association magazine just come through the door there is a half page on Patient Support Groups and the assistance given in setting up a group. Either email julie@heartrhythmalliance.org or call 01789867533 and ask for Julie. I can assure you she is a really helpful lady. If you do not belong to the AFA Google "Atrial Fibrillation Association" and join. Cheers. Dave.
