Day 3 post ablation.

Travelled home from Leeds to Lincoln today.

Felt a little more uncomfortable today, but apparently, I slept most of the night on my left side, which I haven't done since I started with AF, so probably putting pressure on a slightly swollen heart accounted for that. I couldn't breathe in deeply as it was painful.

Still haven't got any sense of taste, so am eating less which is good as I'm overweight, but I can't taste my coffee which is bad as I love my coffee.

All going to plan then Denise.  Take it nice and slow and as Gablonski used to say in Hill Street "lets be careful out there".

Am still in my bed Bob- is that slow enough for you!!!!

But I am about to get up and do absolutely nothing all day, so I really am listening to you about taking it nice and slow.

Hi Sann. I went to Leeds General and initially my EP was Dr. Tayejbee but it was decided that a consultant cardiologist/EP would perform the ablation.

Where are you living now?

I am now living just outside Skegness, but I was born in Belmont St Lincoln, but I guess that I am a lot older than you are, 80 to be precise, and I went to Springhill School. I have had my af since 2002 and have a stent and pacemaker. Is your cardio man at Linciln County? How are you getting on now you have had the ablation, keep well and take care will speak with you later Sann x

Hi Sann, I originate from Bradford in West Yorkshire, but moved to Skegness 22 years ago and lived there for 11 years before moving to Lincoln.

The heart unit at Lincoln is very basic and they don't perform ablation procedures there, so I decided to have it done at Leeds as it meant I could stay at my sisters for a couple of days after, as she lives about 15 mins away from LGI which was good.

I'm recovering really well, I can feel the improvement on a daily basis.

It's taken me 8 years to pluck up the courage to have it done and am praying it works first time.

How are you doing?

Try to visualise the burns inside your heart and imagine how long burns take to heal. You need to be careful for several months. If my experience is anything to go by it takes 12 months for a heart to fully recover.

Thank you for your posts. They are bound to help so many other people faced with ablations

Best wishes.

I am now 12 days post ablation and only just beginning to feel confident enough to take short walks in this beautiful spring sunshine.  The heart is also beginning to settle.    However Jennydog your observation is so true, ignore the advice to take things slowly at your peril.
