I had an internal cardio version. They put a pic line in through your arm and give amiodorone in a drip for 24 hours, it worked for me for 3 months and now have af every couple of months or so with small ones and flutters in between. Pat
Thank you for replying. How was the procedure? they have said I will be sedated but not anaesthetised......sounds a scary thought wires directly into your heart. would you say it was worth it??
Yes I would say it was worth it, at the time I was in a daze, went to A & E with banging and fast heart rate, they tried a small does in A & E just in my arm for 30 minutes, that didnt work. Up on the ward a specialist nurse put the pic line in through my arm into my heart, painless. I then had scan to check it was in correct place. All felt very serious as I had never had heart probs like this before. But back on the ward the doc came and put the bag up and amiodorone started going in. During the night it was uncomfortable and I knew my heart was still going like an express train, I caaled for the nurse in early hours said I felt rough, she said my heart was slowing down and brought me a cuppa. At 7 am I just felt my heart go back in SR, she came over and said you are back in sinus rhythm. They didnt take the drip out until cardioligst came round later in the morning. He said all was well now. and I could go home. Apart from being thoroughly wiped out I felt ok. Best wishes. Pat
I am on amiodarone 200mg and have been for the last 6 weeks Did you not have a external cardio-version first to see if that work. I've had four and 3 worked...this time it's being stubborn so they have said an internal cardio-version. xxx
