Is it a given that those  who are in  permanent AF, drug controlled, or paroxysmal AF will have a higher instance of an enlarged left atrium?

My understanding  Annaelixabeth is that if AF is controlled by whatever means then enlarged left atrium (ELA) is not a given,  Removal of the AF by whatever means can in many cases reverse ELA.  Uncontrolled AF may well produce it but  in fact for some people like endurance athletes the ELA will be the result of their exercise regime and may likely be the cause of the AF not the other way round.  See Dr Gupta's recent blog on exercise and AF.
