One year on

In a weeks time its been a year since I had my cardiac ablation. For those of you on this site from that long ago may remember my build up to having it as I was always reading and posting on here because I was terrified. Had tremendous help from everyone and I went on to have it done. Apart from the occasional missed beat Ive been great. Ive lost 4 stone in weight. Started swimming again and even climbed to the top of a mountain to stand on a glacier on my recent trip to new zealand to see my son. ( my reason for having it done ). If any newbies to this site are about to undergo this procedure DONT WORRY. Your life will be better for it. I dont know how long this will last but I intend to make the most of it. Good luck everyone bite the bullet think of your incentive and do it

Home from hospital.  Everything went exactly as EP predicted.  The flutter was right at the site of my previous surgery (open heart as a child). Flutter caused the a-fib and docs are optimistic that treating the flutter will stop the fib as well.  Time will tell.

Hi Bridget,

Thanks for that. I don't have a date yet but I too am terrified and wonder how I'll cope once I've got a date. So thank you for your positive news. Tricia

I have mine coming up in 5 weeks time. Hope it works as well for me (fingers crossed) if it doesn't then nothing lost. Other than a thickening in the one side of my heart wall from my hypertension my heart is in good condition and my EP has high hopes, but you can never tell.
