Has anyone tried the Boots advance blood pressure monitor with atrial fibrillation detection costing £129.99 ? The blurb seems good on the website but I would welcome honest opinions from people who have used it as it is a rather expensive outlay if it doesn't work Thanks

I haven't used it or seen it but I have read some information on it and it appears to do what the Microlife WatchBPHome A (A is the model designation for AFib) BP monitor does. However the Microlife is quite a Lot cheaper particularly if you buy it on the internet where if you watch you can get it VAT free. As at early ith last year the Microlife was the only one to be approved by NICE and it was also on the British hypertension society list.

Years back Boots used to sell a lot of good products cheaper but I think nowadays they rely a lot on brand name. (I do shop for some things there).

I agree with Peter. I have the same machine, no problems at all. Mine was a demonstrator machine which had been sold as such for about £80. Everything was new and the guarantee that came with it was as for a brand new machine.

Peter is also correct in what he says about NICE and the report from NICE is on their website if you trawl through it.

Looking at the web, the Boots product is a Microlife WatchBPHome A, just with their name stuck on top and an extra profit margin.

I bought a Microlife WatchBPHome A, but it was faulty, sent it back and didn't want a replacement. I know other people say they work but I tend not to give products a second chance, so possibly a bit unfair really.

PS. My AliveCor works very well and for my BP, I have a cheap monitor probably from Boots, which agrees with the professional ones if I do it carefully.

No but I use the Alivecor app and attachment on an iphone which is brilliant. Takes a simple ECG from just holding in your finger tips. You can then easily send via txt or email to your specialist.

microlife model "gentle" BP monitor shows when you have Afib or not. It is great and helped me a lot. Mine cost about GBP70. I really highly reccomend it. I bought mine online

I use the same as my doctors surgery an Omron M6W intelli sense. which I bought on line for 54.00. It always registers the irregular heartbeats even if I am not aware of them.

I have one which I bought in the post Christmas sale for half price. I find it good for confirming that I am in AF and what my pulse rate is. I would recommend having one but at that price I would have a good look around for a better deal.
