Three months ago my GP recommended propanalol for my AF. Since then I haven't had a single incident! She did warn me however, that it was likely to come back eventually. In which case I was to increase the dose, currently 1.25mg.

Yes sadly AF is progressive so you may need to consider other options if things deteriorate. Good for now though . Well done!

I was initially prescribed propanalol for AF but then my GP called me to say that it's not actually suitable and switched me to bisoprolol - I'm not sure why it's not suitable but it could be worth looking into!

Yes check. GPs are not the specialists.

I was originally on Propanalol but that was 20+ years ago. It worked well, can't recall the dose. My AF then progressed, but that was 10 years later, so fingers crossed, hopefully no rush :-)

PS, I ought to add that 20+ years ago my AF (using that term widely) was not irregular but just run of rapid heart rate, at least that's what it felt like. So I guess the drug was the right one at the time.

Sorry everybody. I got the wrong drug. I'm actually on bisoprolol not propanalol. Thank you all for taking the trouble to reply.
