Hi, does anyone else have to continue on these pills after an abalation. Mine was October 19th and I was hoping to get off meds. When they took me off Metropol a flutter came back and HR went to 125 . Does this mean I will be on meds the rest of my life. Thanks

Hi,
You are still in the 3-6 month blanking period where your heart is healing. It may be unrealistic to think that you can be off meds already, if your heart is responding with increased rate and flutter. Talk to your EP. Even if you need to be back on the meds for a while now, that doesn't necessarily mean that you will be on them forever. And, I'd rather be on them forever without AF, than off them with AF if it came down to that. Good luck!
Yes and this should be discussed with your EP at follow up consultation. Some do and some done. As I understand it many stop Amioderone 3 to 6 months after ablation depending on the individual's medical condition and EP.
Before my ablation last week I was taking Bisoprolol, rivaroxiban and amiodarone. After the ablation, the EP stopped the amiodarone and continued the others. He suggested that at the 3 month appointment he would review the Bisoprolol but that I'd be on anticoagulants for life. I am happy with this, if it is going to help prevent a stroke.
