Am I right in thinking that wavy lines in my vision is a normal thing post ablation. Gone for now but had half hour of kalidoscope type vision on the way home from london

Post ablation vision
yes migraine aura is a side affect of the transeptal puncture when they go form right to left atria. Normally goes after a week or two.
Bob
As bob said normal. When I had my ablation at the end of March they varied in intensity and length but gradually diminished. I had a good one on the Easter bank holiday Monday which was a week after op and I had my last one just after the May bank holiday., but that was only a short one.
Glad you are on the way home on this miserable Sunday. Good luck.
Thanks Peter. I thought I had seen it before but just wanted to check. Do headache come or just visual disturbances ?
Throat but tender from the toe too but nothing can't handle. Pleasantly surprised not to have any chest discomfort at all now
Hi there , yes I too had these squiggly lines on the way home after ablation then several more for about 3 months , my vision would start to go a bit before it started then they would last about 20 mins then I was really tired rest of the day ,I did end up at a&e one evening was told to go because it could have been a stroke or detached retina non of which were confirmed and they new nothing of the transeptul puncture causing this, but lots of people on here suggest its related to this ,it's very scarey at the time but they will calm down has things start to heal , keep well Paul
Thanks currently on the fourth attack.
I had visual migraine couple times after ablation and had transeptal puncture.Had my eyes checked out by optician and have not had them since.
I had these migraine headaches with aura in recovery after my second ablation, and on and off for a couple of months but they reduced in length and intensity. I just had to give in and go to bed to sleep them off!
My EP confirmed they sometimes happen after the transeptal puncture...would have been nice to have been warned before hand, but hey ho!!
So relax plenty now!!!!
If EPs sat down and told you all the odd things that might happen they would never get round to doing any work! That is why this forum is so useful. When I started my AF journey eleven years ago there was no such help and every event was a new adventure. We have come a long way since then for sure.
I agree Bob and more people would refuse ablation due to all the 'possibilities'. My husband was so worried I would get tamponade or a stroke or worse he was wreck whilst I was in the Cath lab.
Thanks for everything you do on here Bob. You are a God send
Hope thing settle down for you. This forum is really useful for this sort of thing. I had a few visual migraines when I was very stressed after my dad died. If I remember correctly, in my case they were jagged bright lights. Scary but passed fairly quickly.
Just had full blown migraine after aura and slept all morning. Now sending hubby out to get some migraleve cos don't want to experience that again in a hurry
I had my ablation on Friday and had my first migraine with aura this morning. No pain just lots of zig zags with coloured edges. Didn't panic because I'd read on here that it could happen, just waited for it to pass which it did. Now just making myself continue with the resting, who knew resting could be so difficult!
Picking up the other Bob's point, it is difficult for the EPs to get it right as they don't really want to tell you everything that might happen post ablation when you may be lucky and have very few side effects. I had the squiggly lines for a couple of weeks, and only picked this up on the forum after I had gone into my optician who told me this was probably connected to my ablation. If you have never had any sort of blurred vision it can be a worrying feeling, but I can assure you it does diminish quite quickly. Good luck with your recovery.
