Just been diagnosed with AF I'm 36 and had played semi professionaly soccer up until last year. They said athletes are at high risk when finishing from there career.

I'm on flacenide 100mg twice a day and varapomile 180 mg a day. When over active I feel it and then lay down to get over it. Anyone experience the same thing.

Hi Boutsi13,

You are doing the right thing, in letting your the heart calm down. Try not to over exercise and push your heart rate too high, that's the key. I have learnt that the hard way when I cycle. You have joined a fantastic forum, read as much as you can from it,

as well as the AFA website.

Best Wishes

Barry

I'm a fitness instructor with af, I had always looked after myself and my EP says its just plain bad luck cause I've no apparent reason for having it, I feel exercise helps me, but nothing too heavy,,I still play 5s, and every EP I've spoken to say no exercise is worse, it's finding a fine balance. I get attacks when relaxed to be honest mate

Sorry to hear at such young age !! Mine started last year age 63 and I have never exercised :-( and was overweight for years (so that or years on a drug for arthritis that they now sayinfor can cause heart problems ) fact mine starts when I lay down at night ? So many ifs and buts , I would continue exercise just less strenuously

Very best for the future

Thank you. Did a stress test today went into Af the when I finished heart rate went to 210 then a layer down and went into Flutter. Wow this is ridiculous now I might also have blocked arteries. Seeing the cardiologist tomorrow.

Hi.

Tough to get it so young but your background is interesting . A cardiologist some years back said that some of the research into AF and athletes showed a higher proportion amongst athletes who performed / trained at high sustained heart rates. Cross country skiers having above avarage suffered for example .

Purely my own experience, but sleep deprecation often precludes an episode. mild aerobic exercise (100-110 bpm when in NSR) often feels and appears via hr monitor to correct the episode .
