Hi. Has anyone had an ablation at Liverpool heart and chest hospital performed by Dr Derek Todd under sedation? Looks like I am heading down that path, am feeling very nervous and would really appreciate and advice/comments. Thank you so much.

Thank you Bob.

Hi Jayd,

There are quite a few of us on the Forum who have had Ablations at Liverpool.

My successful Ablation was performed by Dr.Gupta and his team August 2014 at Broadgreen.

Bob usually mentions the "Ablation survival kit" which you will find in past posts.(just really a list of essential items to take with you)

You will be well looked after and Dr.Todd has an excellent reputation if you look on the Broadgreen website you will read all about him and Dr.Gupta.

It is only natural to be nervous as its a fear of the unknown but they must believe that you have a good chance of success.

Carol.

Dr Todd is my EP. He is an absolute gentleman and very highly rated. He was scheduled to do my ablation, with a general anaesthetic, but was called away by an emergency so my ablation was actually done by Dr Richard Snowdon. Dr Todd apparently was present towards the end of the procedure and saw all the mapping.

Dr Snowdon was kindness itself and is a brilliant Electrophysiologist.

If you want to message me about facilities or anything then please do.

PS The food was awful.

I petitioned Grampian NHS in NE Scotland for approval to go to Liverpool and be treated by Dr. Todd. According to my research, he is one of the best. And all the best to you!

Ooops...forgot to mention that they turned me down on my request stating that there is adequate treatment available in Aberdeen. I hope so......
