Medication after ablation
Depends on the EP and the relative success or not. I stayed on mine all the time until my third and then about six months at which point I gradually reduced dose to zero over a couple of months because I was too scared . My EP got quite irritated with me actually.
4 months but when I came off it I was in A.F. so now back on meds while I wait for 2nd ablation.x
I was on 300mgs of flecainide a day before the ablation. I dropped to 200 on the day of the ablation and to 100 a day six weeks later. I gave it up completely after four months. Can't say how good it felt. Dropping it altogether would have been sooner had my EP appointment not been cancelled and rescheduled.
I was never on this just bisoprolol for a few months. I came off this on the day after my ablation.
I had my ablation 2 weeks ago and the only drug I came off was digoxin . Im still on rivaroxaban and will be for the rest of my life, bisoprolol atorvastatin and ramapril. No noises to reduce or take me off these as yet

I am 1 week post ablation and am taking Diltiazem, losartan, omeprozole and warfarin. Was not on flecainide for some time before ablation and not re started on it after. Am having a big problem with my blood pressure at the moment so will continue with both the blood pressure drugs.

I came off sotalol straight after the ablation, having been on that or bisoprolol or flecainide for approximately five years. Not taken anything in 8 months.
I'm so nauseous EP upped my flecinide since ablation week......and having extra beats. I'm freaking out a bit.
That sums it up.....waiting for it around the corner. Terrible feeling and one we all try so hard to deal with. I know that I like many of you will suffer with the side effects to insure best possible odds.....good to know you are starting to get some relief from those side effects and extra beats. I would get on an antidepressant if not for the side effects of that!!!!!! Lol.......hate medication and now find myself on so many. And feel so yuck.
Post-ablation I took flecainide 100mg 2x/day and diltiazem 120mg slow-release. I objected to both of them because I have a very strong heart (resting pulse about 60) and I'm not afraid of breakthrough arrhythmias. Doc insisted. That was last May and I've been suffering debilitating side effects ever since.
My advice to anyone who wants it: If your resting pulse after ablation is 80 or less, don't take diltiazem. And if you want to know if you have any breakthroughs, don't take flecainide.
Note: when together in the bloodstream, each of these drugs increases the concentration and effect of the other.
