State of the Art Monitor now on.

Monitor was glued on today. Yesterday I was in A.F. Today, nothing ,despite having 2 cups of real coffee, a very stressful afternoon trying to book tickets for the rugby world cup, the dog being sick twice while I was having tea and a glass of red wine after being alcohol free for 2 years. Oh, and I have not taken any flecanide either. Isn't that sods law? Good job it's on for 2 weeks. The glass of wine was like nectar but I already have a headache. Groan. X

I don't know why they don't fit such to all AF sufferers as they seem to stop it instantly.

There's plenty of time yet!!

It will probably wait until the day after you hand in your monitor. Or then again you can have the bizarre experience of going into AF and being pleased about it.

Always the way isnt it? When I went in for my ablation, the first day they stopped my medication and put me on a permanent monitor, nothing, not even one damn blip.

Thats after being in AF 12 hours (roughly) per day for the previous 3 months.

Made up for it the next day, heart rate shot from 65bpm up to 159bpm

I felt like that on the last occasion that I had a monitor. After a Cardioversion I told them my heart rate was 30 on occasions. They thought I was exaggerating. The last monitor day I felt fine and heart rate was only 48. The hospital had trouble getting hold of me and when they did I was told to come in immediately and not drive as I needed a pacemaker fitted. My heart was dangerously low at night and stopping for 7 to 8 seconds. I knew things were bad but no one believed me as they thought I was panicking. I wasn't. I had been dashing around all morning getting on with my life. Your own gut feeling is often the best one although I guess some people may worry unnecessarily when things are OK.

Gosh! Another normal day in your life? You are obviously a survivor!

Jos.

Maybe you've found the cure dediotte. Loads of caffeine, wine and stress, and chuck away the pills :-) .

Wouldn't that be nice.....without the stress though. Still no sign of A.F. Lots of ectopic and some other funny things but not the real deal! X

Have you got the monitor for a week or more? If so surely you'll get something recorded then at least the EP will know what he (and you) are dealing with.

I had a monitor fitted for 2 weeks and even though I could sense I was in AF it somehow missed it. That's what led me to get my own ECG machine !!!

A set of printouts convinced them I was in AF regularly and I was on the operating table in weeks.
