AF and pregnancy

Hi everyone

Is anyone pregnant whilst being diagnosed with AF? Just interested to hear how you are getting on and if you may have got worse?

This will be my second pregnancy but 1st whilst having AF.

Thanks very much

I was first diagnosed when pregnant Anna. Though weirdly, i used to find that my heart felt slow a lot during my pregnancy. It was also my second pregnancy. I had loads and loads of episodes during my pregnancy and during labour. I also had a lot of bigeminy (harmless rhythm). I know another lady who was cardioverted very safely while pregnant. I hope you enjoy your pregnancy and get a chance to relax with another wee child to look after as well!!! Best wishes:)

Hi Anna

There have been a couple of women on here who have posted about AF in pregnancy, but some time ago, couple of threads for you

and maybe this one

May I suggest a phone call to the AFA today, they will have access to more resources for you, and will be able to point you in the direction of more information and guidance.

Be very well indeed

One to watch is Flecainide if you're on it. Check with your doctor but I think it's not recommended (I know when we were going through IVF it would have had to stop at implant stage).

Thank you very much everyone!

Hi I started with af after having my first child aged 37, I had my second child at 40 I had to start taking verapamil towards the end of my pregnancy it really worried me a lot during pregnancy as I couldn't find much info on it. You are welcome to send me a pm and I will give you my email address if you want to ask me anything 😀

It is good you have known AF so you will be well monitored. I had Graves disease also during pregnancy and was on high doses of medication for it. My gorgeous baby boy was a bouncing 9 lb 15 when he was born and so bright and alert after 9 months of endocrine meds and arryhtmias lol. !!
