I arrived back home from a very relaxing river cruise in Germany yesterday evening and said to my husband that my heart had behaved impeccably while away with my mother. Then at about 10.00pm as I was watching a rather disturbing programme on the television, it did a few wobbles and went into a rather strange AF. I had my 1st ablation in January and so far so good until last night. I took my pulse and it was about 114, did around 14 beats, halted, did a little dance and carried on steadily for another 14 beats and then halted and so on. I then took 200mg flecanide and within an hour it was back to normal. I think I should perhaps stay permanently on holiday!!
Do you think it has come back, maybe due to being tired and a very long day travelling on coach, ferry, car journey back from Cologne or just a blip. I have my monitor fitted on Friday for the 6 month check. I am off flecanide and am taking half a 1.25mg bisoprolol daily. My heart rate is still faster than it was previous to the ablation. Bob, how long did it take yours to get back to normal?
Thanks for reading this rather long post.

What a shame after a lovely holiday. Tiredness most certainly won't have helped, was you dehydrated too perhaps. I think once our heart has been thrown of kilter with af it must be sensitive to things none af people can just throw off.
Good that you have your six month monitor soon which will show anything happening hopefully. Pleased flecainide helped you.
Hi Bella. sounds ore like ectopic beats to me than AF so don;t worry as this is quite common and basically harmless. After my last ablation my HR was around mid 80s for a long time, nearly 9 months from memory and than gradually slowed down. Now 60 to 70 on average.
I agree, I get atrial ectopics which are separate to my AF. They feel like stronger beats then a pause then a few normal then more strange beats. These sometimes can be felt in my throat instead of my chest and happen if I have had a busy few days ( not necessarily when I am busy but the day after and I don't have to necessarily be stressed just busy). I think you probably had such a nice holiday that you relaxed and these were just a few blips x hope you feel better soon
Bella - I just posted a similar question! I have been fighting several Bouts of AF since January - so I'm scheduled for another ablation in two weeks. Follow me post - maybe we will both learn from others here! Good luck,
For better or worse, I have adopted a belt and braces attitude to lifestyle changes to support the drug therapy, which includes not watching any possibly disturbing programmes. It works well for me.
