Who put you on it? If your GP ask to see a specialist such as an electrophysiologist who is a cardiologist with special skills in rhythm matters,

Bob

Hi Suesteve,

Among other medication, I have been taking Digoxin for 12 months or so now and I recently discussed these reports about the drug with my G.P.. He said that if there was any serious danger, G.P.s would be notified and would take appropriate action, but he has heard nothing about it.

I do understand your concern about these reports, because I am concerned myself, but there are doctors and more out there who support Digoxin. Obviously the Heart Specialist you see, will decide on your medication, but please read the following link, which may ease your mind a little, until you see the Specialist.

hi suesteve ive been on digoxin like you for a couple of weeks now, i read reports for/against it but my dr assures me that with such a low dose the reports are all good? they def help me along with 10mg bisoprolol, my heart is not racing as much now & im beginning 2 feel better health wise, hope this helps reassure you x

Thanks heartbreaker I only been prescribed digox and Apixiban why you on proprolol as well do you get bad side effects I get the feeling of breathless and anxious and blurry eyes but seems to wear off later from digoxin do you find it gets better in time

To be honest most drugs can kill is. Bisoprolol almost killed me - a reaction with my dormant asthma - but that's why you need regular contact with your doctor and consultant during the initial period. This might even be every other day for a week or two but your GP won't think you are being over-worried as these are strong drugs and he/she will want to get it right now rather than have longer term problems

Thanks Mike11 what happened with your Asthma what drugs are you on and have you any side effect

Asthma was well controlled at the time, but bisoprolol brought it back to the surface after my heart attack. Went onto verapamil at first which lasts for a couple of years before it wears off, and it does have AF controlling abilities. Then had to switch to nebivolol which is more cardiac specific than bisoprolol and doesn't affect the (well my) lungs. Tried dromedarone for the AF which didn't work on me, then Sotolol which did, but lowered blood pressure to dangerous levels so went for the ablation which, touch wood, to date has cured me.

But still on nebivolol, clopedogrel and warfarin, plus statins and nitrates, plus ramapril and a water tablet on a self-monitoring 'as needed' basis.
