Diltiezem is a rate control drug whilst flecainide is for rhythm control.

Therefore if you are in fast AF, you are likely to be prescribed both - whereas if you are in slow AF, ie 100bpm, you would use only the rhythm control drug?

Not necessarily. The flec should control the AF so your HR is normal.

As I understand it diltiazem treats high blood pressure, angina and heart rhythm disorders (fast). It is often used instead of Bisoprolol in combination with an antiarrhythmic for people with asthma.
