My cardiologist has never talked to me about an electro physiologist. Indeed, the first I heard of one was here! I am going to be seeing him again soon, can I request a referral? What if he's not keen to do so? Can I insist? Your replies will be welcome. Thanks.

Electrophysiologist
Not sure where you are in the world but in UK it is your right to be treated by whoever you choose so you can insist. Cardiologists are plumbers, electrophysiologists are electricians and you wouldn't ask a plumber to re-wire your house.

Will do my best to.
I went to my GP and asked for a second opinion and asked to be referred to another Consutant in a different hospital - I had no problems with my request. Can someone go with you for moral support if you think you may be met with a negative response?
Like Bryonny, I simply went along to my GP and requested a referral to an EP. Once on his books I then cancelled any follow up appointment from the cardiologist - who was in a different hospital. It really won't be a problem - they all know the system.
hi all,
I never heard of the 'electrician' either till I saw it all on here. I'm due back to my cardiologist soon and will be asking him about seeing the 'sparky'.....
stay well everyone!

Some cardios are reluctant to refer. Mine said not yet and I insisted.
