Has anyone had or heard of diaghragm muscle damage after an ablation.

Diaghragm muscle post ablation
I was warned about this as one of the risks, by an EP.....
No. My main problem, post-ablation, was a dreadful cough which went on for weeks.
It is a very rare risk I believe.
Well my EP wants to check it due to me having the breathless feeling and discomfort chest and back areas, puzzled why he never mentioned it when I seen him two weeks ago for the same problem and the blood issue.
Hi mick I'm nearly 3weeks post ablation, and about 4 days ago I started with horrible left breast and back pain was told it is most likely inflammation, I was just prescribed pain medication. It seems a bit better today I guess I'll just see how it goes.Good luck I hope you get to the bottom of it and feel better.
Still feeling crap some days with the pain in abdomen and back area, also some days a struggle to eat, been back to the GP who suggested the only way to know for sure would be an endoscopy, but not recommended so close to having the ablation.
Will have to ride it out for, defo not risking anymore ivasive tests while recovering.
Who knows it may have nothing to do with the ablation and i have just been unlucky and eaten something iffy which has triggered an old problem I ahd a few years ago when I picked up a bout of food poisioning in SA, started to think about it the other day, and symptoms are quite similar, and the problem did start after a Saturday night out when we visited a Japanese restaurant.
I had a feeling as if there was not enough oxygen in my body for weeks after the second Ablation with a general anesthetic. I was not out of breath but found I had to breath in more often (I know that sounds weird). They considered diaghragm damage and carried out a full chest X-Ray at Bristol during my final consultation. I am convinced it was something to do with the General Anesthetic as I was aware of it within an hour of waking up after the Op.
When I had my cryoablation my diaphragm went into spasm, I think the effect of the cold. It soon recovered and have no after effects now.
Thanks all
Defo something wrong somewhere as also feeling it when I eat now.
Right in the middle of my chest under the breastbone, having x rays tomorrow
Strange though never felt it after the ablation, been three weeks today since I had it done, this all started last Friday, odd.
Hi there MickN....my alarm bells are ringing for you..... I'm Jo just a question are you getting increasing reflux in the morning or during the night and feel a bit sick or unable to eat much with the breathlessness as well.....I experienced a similar problem post ablation in September last year..... becoming more breathless and lots of pain behind the breast bone (felt like I was going to have a heart attack) and ended up barely being able to eat progressing over 3-4 weeks ...it progressively got worse over a 10 week period before I got the doctors to listen to me.... I was feeling like I was unable to function in the finish...eventually I was diagnosed with gastroparesis.....caused by damage (from the ablation) to the oesophagus and vagal nerve....
To help heal the problem I followed a special diet by Dr Jackson.... you can find it on the internet...it virtually saved me from total despair.... it has 3 stages to follow and it may seem restrictive but truly was a godsend......
I am happy to report its almost gone now near 6 months later.....my diet is near back to normal.... I was also prescribed a drug called Nizac at night as well as Nexium in morning by my GI Doctor. ....these also helped immensely...
If this problem doesn't resolve quickly go back to your EP guy and ask him for a referral to get an endoscope done....this will give you an answer re gastroparesis ...if it is this also rare problem the sooner you get on top of it the better.....and just a note they tried x rays for me they were useless ....
Hope you feel better soon...keep asking questions here this is truly a wonderful site for help and encouragement and just a place you can chat to someone and the other folk here esp. Bob are a great peace of mind and good insight into this AF business....
Regards
Jo
Thanks Jo, defo sounds familiar.
Yes had another x ray today and up I did ask why as the last was only two weeks ago and that showed nothing.
Also had a chat for the first time with one of the nurses, who only really pointed out "these things happen" but why I asked nearly three weeks post ablation rather than straight away, he did agree that would be the norm.
I will run the endoscopy test via the nurse who is supposed to be calling me later today on the x ray result.
Will also check the diet out, thing is due to my current diet which I started to help me on the AF has meant I have lost weight, which I did not want or need.
Thanks again Jo, will let you know how things go from here on in, my mood is not the best at the moment, must admit starting to struggle mentally with how things have gone the last few months.
I had the same problem, and it didn't really get bad until about a week after the ablation. It felt as if I could not take a full breath, I had significant pain under the breastbone, and I also felt as if I might choke when I ate any solid food. After xrays and an scope of my throat, they chalked it up to "inflammation of the esophagus." It was about four weeks before it was completely gone.
Hope this helps!
