Does anybody else still get what i can only describe as " mild" fluttering/ AF on this medication?
The symptons are like a very diluted version of what i used to experience before being on meds.

Bisoprolol won't stop your AF. It isn't a rhythm control drug. merely aims to slow your heart rate when you are in AF so of course you will still have AF, just hopefully less distressingly. It seems to the the first drug of choice for many doctors and whilst it can reduce symptoms it is neither a cure nor a solution. Many people find that life under bisoprolol is almost worse than with the AF as it slows them down to an unacceptable level and of course it is not to be used for patients with asthma. Rhythm control drugs such as flecainide, propafanone or amiodarone try to stop the heart going into AF. For more information on drugs and the way they work read the fact sheets on the main AF-Association website.
Thanks bob, i will read up
yes wont stop AF, I have taken bisop(2.5mg) for 3 years now, after 10 years on sotalol.
i think I can say that for me the sotalol possibly depressed anxiety more than bisoprolol does, and whilst I am in permanent AF it does sometimes become noticeable on bisoprolol
Bisoprolol was my wonder drug before my successful ablation as, although I continued to suffer frequent, long episodes of AF, it made the condition much more tolerable and I was even able to sleep through some episodes. It does have side effects of fatigue but it was worth it for me and the symptoms can sometimes lessen over time. Anti arrhythmic drugs made me worse rather than better. Good luck with finding out which drugs help you personally in coping with AF as we are all different.
I've been on bisoprolol constantly since November 2013 and it was increased from 2.5 to 5mg following a reversion to fast AF in September 2014 when my first ablation failed. Even now, getting on for 2 months post 2nd ablation it's still controlling the rate, but I'm still getting flutters.
Thanks jedimasterlincoln, reassuring its not just me. Im on quite a high dose (7.5) compared to a lot on here.
I'v had increase after increase of dosage to try and control fast HR, consultant said i can increase to max - 10 mg but dont think i could stand the tiredness!
