A bit of discussion on this website. medscape.com/viewarticle/83...

You may have to log in to access this. Probably worth reading if you are contemplating ablation.

Thanks a lot. Very informative. Not sure now if I am ready for my ablation on 24/02/15. Seeing cardiologist on Tuesday. Cheers

I know we often read discouraging information on ablation but my reasoning for going ahead is that if I don't try I will never know if I missed an opportunity and also even if it fails at least I will be able to move on and consider other options. I don't think we should be discouraged by this piece after all 80-90% success rate for the right candidate, is fairly high. The procedure costs our N.H.S. around 15000 pounds so unless they have a fair chance of success they wouldn't offer it. Good luck with your decision making. It is not easy.x

Thank you very much for that article. From a personal point of view I found the Ideal Patient part interesting. I tick a few of those boxes with the exception being I require medication to stop an episode. That gives me hope for a successful ablation, but I still have concerns over the amount of ablations a person can have until it is deemed no longer a viable option. At 43 I don't want to be told in ten years time I've had my lot, but who knows what's round the corner.
