As a `newby` on the AF journey, please tell me what and who is an EP? None of the medics I have seen have mentioned this

Hi Ruskin

An EP is an Electrophysiologist, they specialise in heart rhythm disorders, but they are also qualified cardiologists, so it's a specialism of cardiology. You will see them referred to here as electricians rather than plumbers, which is apt.

Do try and get in front of one, Cardiologists often poo hoo AF, EPs seldom do.

Be well

You obviously have nothing to do Ian as you keep beating me to these posts. The long haired general has me running errands and last minute shopping so I'm not in the office all the time at present. Have a good one.

.

But, if you search for an Electrophysiologist at least in Birmingham, you'll find them hard to come by. The ones at the QE refer to themselves as Heart Rhythm Specialists.

I asked my GP if I could go see an EP, and he said "what's that?"
