Each time I get afib, it's a very high rate, last time was 160+ bpm for over an hour,
I'm hoping to get an ablation, but wondered if they will try stimulate my paf during the ablation?

Apparently my heart started to fibrillate during my recent ablation and had to be shocked. I asked the EP if that had been helpful to him, imagining that it would have shown what was causing the problem. He said " No."
It depends a lot on the EP I think Some do an study to map the heart whilst I guess others just ablate round the PVs.

They tried to stimulate my AF during the last ablation but it didn't work, so they didn't actually do any ablating. Judging by what they said afterwards, there were surprised. So guess stimulation usually works?

They try to elicit AF after they've finished their burning during the procedure and if no AF appears they see that as having been successful. When I go in AF mine is also 175/80/BPM..rich 101 I've had an ablation and no more AF!
Think that is a normal heart rate for AF when you are not on medication to reduce the rate- mine is usually similar to your when in AF
