And twelve weeks later....

On the 5th of June this year I had my first ablation, I was terrified but with the support of my family and the fantastic people on this page I got through it.

All has gone well between June and now, a couple of wobbles, a few ker-plunks that felt like the start of something as my meds were reduced but didn't go any further. I've increased my activities over the weeks and now I'm back to playing bowls, driving and walking along the beach on my own at 5:30 in the morning, crazy I know but I can't explain the joy I feel at being able to walk the beach alone, knowing I'm not going to pass out

My family have been wonderfully supportive but I needed the space that comes with being well, and here I am 12 weeks later.

I saw the EP, Mr Duncan today, he gave me the all clear, no more Bisoprolol or flecinide, I'm to continue with Wararin, at least for a year. He gave me a contact number, if anything worries me I am to call, which means I won't have to go to the GP for a further referral.

I'd say I was a pretty lucky bunnie, my Son who is a paramedic picked up on my PAF, before I realised I had it, he came to the initial cardio appointment with me and when the cardio faffed Alex told him that he wanted me to see an EP. Even though the hospital messed up and lost my paper work, when I finally saw Mr Duncan everything went well and my ablation has been a complete success.

I'm so sorry I missed the nosh and natter in Cardiff today but I was at the hospital much longer than I expected but I hope to be at the next one, and Porsche now I have your contact number we will be able to coordinate meeting on the train.

I hope you all enjoyed Henry's, I've been there a couple of times, I love their tempura and the Thai green curry.

This site has become so much part of my daily routine I don't think I can give it up, I love the chit chat and encouragement, I'd like to stay around and post the odd comment if nobody minds.

Please include me on the invites to the West Country Cell Bob and the Cardiff Nosh and Natter next time round, hopefully Porsche I'll get to meet you then, and Jan-ran I'm looking forward to our lunch at Wetherspoons. Thanks again for all your support and encouragement everyone. Sandra xx

Really good to hear you are doing well and feeling the benefit.

I know exactly what you mean about the addictive nature of this site. I keep on saying I am only going to look once a day but it doesn't work. There is always something to learn and it is so encouraging when people have success tales to tell.

Hi Sandra - I'm so pleased to hear that you are doing so well. Such a lovely feeling! I'd love to meet everyone who uses this site frequently and hope one day to get to one of the meetings. You must stay on this, not only cos I'd miss you but also to give advice to others. x

I'd miss this site so much Jeannie, but not sure if what I say qualifies as advice, I can only comment on my own experiences and hopefully that's enough to help others x

I am so pleased to hear your success story. Similar to mine but I have yet to have my three month check up so still on the meds. I will continue to read all the daily posts. Some are truly inspirational. Long may our good health continue.

There's nothing quite like a walk at 5:30, dawn, seagulls, water lapping and only a few crazies like me to enjoy the early morning peace

It's hard to accept how ill I had become before the ablation, but it was like someone had flipped a switch after it. Energy returned, but I had to pace myself, my sense of humour returned, my head cleared, and my drive to get on and do came back. It's been quite a journey!!!
