Had a CV about a year ago. 200 joules one shot successful. I take 20mg morning and evening. Looked it up on line and that dosage is recommended for babies. Rhythm is good. Rate is good. Blood pressure good. Do you think the Sotalol is having any effect at all. 72 yrs old weigh 118 kg 6'3". Thoughts?

How do you feel ? If you feel well with no side effects don't upset the apple cart as they say . I'm not too well at the moment after trying to change salt intake. Will have to see doc next week. Keep well Terjo.

Sotalol is no longer listed as a suitable drug for treating AF.

Thanks BobD. Will take it up with the guys. There seems to be a bit of discord . My Cardio likes flec but i've never tried it.

Flec made me very poorly, it made my arrhythmia 10 times worse.

Can I ask why BobD? I was prescribed it a year ago in Lincoln cardiac care unit. At that time it was the NICE guide to give Sotalol after two other drug failures.

Ive just come of it and had a terrible episode the first day without. Now calmed down on the new meds.

What changed?

No Idea, but latest guidelines June 2014 dropped it .

Nice does not recommend it. I think it can cause ventricular arrhythmia's. Its been around for nearly 30 years. But look at digoxin. First is wonderful, then ineffective then harmful. Now it seems back in favour in combination with other drugs. Most confusing.

I read that, it simply said "A beta blocker other than Sotalol....."

I wonder what has changed?

My cardiologist here in Japan is happy to get me off it. He says its "an unusual drug" but because of the language barrier I cant get what he means and he cant explain in English

If that is your results it does look good. Looks like it is just a controlling dose to keep it settled.

I am on 80mg morning and night. but I am a long termer and have a few other problems to upset it all.
