I am waiting for mine as well and am also very nervous but there are lots of people on this forum who write that it is nothing to worry about so hang onto that thought. You could try doing a search. X
Hi I am also waiting for an ablation after being fitted with a pace maker ,i have been reassured by so many that all will be ok ,after feeling poorly for so long it has to be worth it ,its easy to tell some one else not to worry ,but please try not to and ditch any negative comments ,some people just enjoy scaring other people God Bless poppystorey
I was very nervous and got reasurred that EVERYONE is nervous all I can say is my back was against the wall there was nowhere to hide or run so I just threw myself in their hands and let them take care of me it was over before I could say " ooh this feels whoozy" then back on the ward! You'll be fine!
I've had two and both were a breeze. First one I was awake but sedated and the time just flew by. Second was under GA and I just walked into the "threatre" (sorry Bob !!) and next thing I woke up in bed. People say it takes time for recovery but to be honest I was back to normal very quickly. Just had to be careful with the groin wound as you would but not more than any other wound. I don't know what they give you for GA but I wish you could buy it. I felt amazing for a few days afterwards.
Koll
Wasn't what I had Koll lol! Still feel like I've been on the sauce
I would take something riveting with you to fill the wait between arriving (and getting gowned and prepped in all those little ways) and the call to the cath lab. There was some emergency when I had my second ablation and having arrived at 8am, I didn't get called until 2pm. It was a long, dry morning and I was glad I had a Bill Bryson book to amuse me. Have a nice mouthwash to refresh your breath and make sure when you leave for the procedure that the possessions you might want to grasp afterwards are within reach or placed in a container that the nurse can easily find to pass to you. I think you can expect the standard of nursing to be exceptionally high and all your needs will be attended to very promptly. You may be stuck in bed for a while. I had a much longer recovery period first time, lying flat for a quite a long time, then sitting up, then sitting with feet out of the bed and finally out of the bed after a few hours. Second time it didn't go the same way, but I think I had been blotto for longer!
Everyone is nervous but all the staff are very reassuring and caring and there's a skilled team who will spend some hours giving you their expert attention and monitoring your progress.
Thank you. It's great to have support from y'all. Still waiting... Got YouTube to keep me focussed. I think you've convinced me there's no need to worry.
If your having local ask for a pre med if not it will be over in no time. I have had three all under local and they have all been different. I have other health problems that do not help!
Be Well
