Hi Jazzy I think it depends on what type of AF you have and other comorbidities and mine is paroxysmal and I'm only on Flecanide supposed to be 200mgs daily but I only take 100mgs and Apixaban anticoagulant 10mgs daily.

I take Sotalol , 160mg a day

Propafenone 150mg twice a day and diltiazem 240mg slow release once a day.

Disopyramide 100mg x 3 daily ( down from 250mg x 2 daily as could not tolerate ). Plus Warfarin, currently 6.5 mg

Mine was lone paroxysmal and I wasn't taking any drugs. I'm on warfarin now because I had an ablation 2 months ago.

I have PAF and take 2.5mg Bisoprolol and 5mg Apixaban daily. Sotalol 40mg twice daily made me more symptomatic and was stopped.

I'm on Flecanide 50gr twice a day ,Ibersartan 75gr once a day, asprin 75 grm, diazepam 2gr once daily also zopiclone at night. Eventually I feel comfortable and able to do all I want to do. My BP is down to normal and I've been free from AF for over a year now. It's taken years of trying different meds plus a cardioversion to get to this state but feel so glad that I got here. Not on warfarin as I had a life threatening bleed six years ago. Hope this helps in some way and you reach your optimum target faster than I did. Good luck! Terjo

You must remember everyone is different and in this mongrel condition we all respond differently to different drugs. It really does not do a lot of good comparing drugs. Your dr will put you on what he thinks is best and if they don't suit you go back and get them changed. For the record I am on diltiazem 200 mg twice a day

Kazzy, I am on Disopyramide,2 x 150mg a day and one 3.75 mg day of Bisoprolol. I have had AF for about 15 years, but was really bad for the first few years. My current medication I think, controls it quite well. I have had two failed Ablations so far, but I think my overall improvement has come by observing a fairly strict diet of foods that are low in Histamines, and also that are not Histamine producers in the body(Such as alcohol). I find that histamines have a very stimulating effect that will bring on an AF attack in me. The other thing I have discovered over the years is that very often after an AF attack I get an attack of gout. I find that there is an association between the two, The gout is brought on by too much uric acid in the blood, this can be checked very simply by blood test with your GP. In my case after years of gout and no treatment, I have been put on Allopurinol this has improved my urate readings and I think has greatly improved my heartbeat

rythms ( Ectopic beats ) And no AF attacks. I should also say that I observe a fairly strict low purine diet to help avoid the Gout, I hope this information will be of some help.

Jazzy I am on diltizem 200 prolonged release for AF too because I am allergic to all beta blockers. This seems to suit me so far. Hope you find it good too.

I'm new to things on here. I was told I had AF/ heart failure few years back so I sort of give up as my doctor gave me no advice on diet but just said stop drinking wine. I was feeling rough one evening after my wine and that is when I decided to stop and that been over a year now. I had a virus and went to a&e and then went to see my doctor as I was still not feeling well but he was not interested and ushered me out I was so angry I now have spent this last 2 weeks looking up dos and don't with what I have plus I've now stopped caffeine. So now I am in process of moving doctors surgery's and hopefully get more care and advise other then you get about 5 years after being diagnosed so I'm going to see if there are exercises I can do and classes I can go to. Thanks for reading....
