I would be very careful about fasting as you need to have a fairly stable food intake with warfarin. Do speak to your doctor before doing anything rash.

Hi Shirlgal, dieting and warfarin is a challenge, talk to yout doctor before you do anything, and certainly the fasting diets will play havoc with your INR

Yes, me too, more probably, but I'm thinking I will just have to exercise more and eat healthily as you do have to be a bit predictable in what you eat if you're on warfarin. I need to know more about SRMGrandma's diet, I think that has worked wonders for her and her AF from the sounds of things...

I lost 9 lbs since Christmas purely by doing very small changes, cut the carbs, absolutely no pastry, cake or biscuits, fewer potatoes, pasta and rice and increase the fruit & veg intake to compensate and use smaller plates so eat less. My wise godmother always said just cut out anything white ie white flour or anything made with it, potatoes and sugar etc, that was in 1967, wasn't she just ahead of her time?

Loss has been very slow but that is how you need to do it as diets, any fast loss diet, makes you put on weight in the long term. I put on weight when I stopped exercising hard but didn't eat less and that took a very long time to register for me so put on 4 stones in 10 years so now determined to loose it, if for nothing else other than it has to be healthier. I have to say it has been very painless so far and still have the odd treat and still eat chocolate, but only dark and only couple of squares, good luck.

Should have said I am not on Warfarin so have no restrictions on the greens, which may be a difficulty for you? Oh, and eat green apples..... The pectin content has great cleansing effect and lowers your lipids at least as well as statins.

The only thing we did to kick start is invest in a power blender and replace one meal with a home prepared smoothie, that really works and I find fills me up, I always make more than I need for one shot so can have a top up if I get hungry, this means I don't snack at all.
