coming off warfarin: My INR below 2 so... - Atrial Fibrillati...
coming off warfarin
Do let us know how you get on and which one you take
Have read a lot of the new studies giving their benefits. Just like warfarin as can adjust and test myself but may be better on noacs when older!
i have been prescribed Dabigatran or commonly known as Pradaxa my INR has been up and down so much that over 2 years kept having appts plus twice on holiday (heat extra activities and change in diet ) sent it up very high needing on one greek island a vit k infusion and several visits at considerable travelling cost for re checks. All in all it seems to be right for me
A good way forward for you and clearly warfarin was not working well for you.
Interesting frills and I will watch for reports. Interestingly over the last few months I have started to change my opinion of the NOACs as more and more people seem to be having problems with staying in range with warfarin so nice that NICE approved them even if many GP centres won't prescribe for cost reasons.
Bob
One GP questioned it but my regular one discussed it with me and pharmacist. At no time was cost mentioned. I am first in practice so feel like a pioneer for others who may want to change
I am also one of the first in my Practice. So far I am much happier than on warfarin. Unfortunately I have to go back on to warfarin before my ablation in Sep. Oh well, get the tester out of its box! Good luck frills.
was speaking to a cardiologist who will lead our patients support group yesterday (I'm not his patient) and he said he has been impressed with the studies on NOACS and would take them himself if he had AF!! Felt this was an unbiased view as he is not my doctor!!
well ive read a few studies papers etc myself so i shall see how it goes thanks for that reassurance rosy
