Sorry folks this is such a trivial problem and perhaps I am out of order posting this on the AF website. Over the last couple of months my lips have become chapped and sore to the extent that the skin is peeling off in clumps.
I have tried lots of remedies to help the situation but to no avail and am loathed to ask the GP for more medication.
I wondered if it could be a side effect of my AF medication regime. Has anybody had the same problem and if so how was it cured?

What medication do you take? Can't say I have a problem on the face but I do go through hand cream and moisturiser at an amazing rate. Something makes my skin very dry and I don't think it is merely old age.
Have you asked a pharmacist? It might be best to see your GP though as the best way forward might be only available on prescription or a change of your medication. But first why not read through the small print on each accompanying leaflet and see what is listed as known side effects, and google your symptoms too. But maybe someone here on what you take has had a similar problem.
Hello Maitha, it is lovely to hear from you, I follow your AF journey with interest and hope that you are beginning to win the battle against this rotten condition.
Thank you also for your advise re: vitamins I think you are correct in thinking it may be a vitamin deficiency and I will seek advise re:same.
I agree that Vaseline is the best lip balm and I find that my lips are worse at night, I think I must sleep with mouth open so always pile it on at night. Dehydration also is a factor, I have always had bad chapped lips, always worse in the winter, so I can't associate with AF or the meds.
PhyllisK, I'm having the same problem... it occurred shortly after starting warfarin, I'm also on sotalol..... my top lip gets so cracked and sore, I also have a strange white salt like mark around my lips..... I would say I used to get the odd chapped Lips in bad weather but nothing like this, people are even noticing and saying "your mouth looks really sore"!
I just use a plain chopstick or Vaseline to ease my symptoms, but yeah strangely enough I'm with you on this one, my just be a coincident?
Hi 4charl, thank you for your reply to my query, I would not have mentioned such a trivial problem but it really is noticeable and like you, people mention how sore it looks. I will use Vaseline as suggested.
