Dear Di
AF Association has a travel insurance fact sheet which lists insurance companies who may be more sympathetic to those with AF. It can be found here: bit.ly/1nMEWb0
If you have any questions regarding AF please do give me a call on 01789 451837 or email patientservices@afa.org.uk. Good luck with your pacemaker and I hope you have a lovely holiday.
Kind regards

If you have your E111 card (or whatever its called now) then within EU you will be covered for treatment. I have a house in France and often travel there and I dont get trave linsurance.
I am not advocating it just saying this is what i do.
Yes! I have. There is a public hospital not too far away from our hotel and I must admit I have not had any other insurance before. At my age, the premiums are very expensive by the time you tell them all about medical conditions.
Thanks lallym, for your comment.

Try the AllClear website, I found a good policy from them but don't just accept what they say on the site because I needed travel insurance within 2 weeks of ablation and got refused on the site but rang them and they put me in touch with a company who gave me annual multi trip for about 80GBS which I thought was excellent value. Up to age 80 it is usually easy to get insurance, 80 plus becomes a lot more expensive!
Thank you CDreamer, I will try them. Trouble is I am fast approaching 80!!! I have had quotes for a single trip to Spain for 8 days ranging from £97 to (are you ready for this?) £750!
Hope you are keeping 'heart calm', angel blessings

Not at all surprised as I also went through that. Spain is more expensive to get travel insurance for than the rest of Europe. ??!! My most expensive quote was over £1k whilst waiting for procedure. You should be able to get something for around £50 and someone else posted that they got something around £40 for a single trip but not sure it was Spain. It doesn't seem to matter about the number of days as single trip will cover up to 30 days.
It's only once you have your 80th birthday the price rockets so enjoy the next few years and good travelling! My husband was 80 this January and ended up travelling without travel insurance but got medical cover in Spain, we have an apartment there so it was worth it for him.
PS he had pacemaker fitted Jan and we travelled end of March. I had ablation performed 2 weeks before travelling.
Hope your husband is getting the benefit of his pacemaker and that your ablation has worked for you.
Any insurance is a minefield, especially the small print so I think I will just rely on my E111, it makes the holiday so expensive otherwise!
Take care and thanks
