Have been waiting to have my second Radio Frequency ablation for several months. I had an appointment with the EP who will be doing the op eventually but he said he will now be doing a Artic Front Cryro Balloon instead. Has anyone else had this procedure. any information would be appreciated.

Not had one of those but know about it. They use a tiny balloon on the end of the catheter which they position in the entrance to the pulmonary veins and then fill with liquid CO2 to create a freeze burn and thus isolate the pulmonary vein . It is just another method and is often used in conjunction with RF or on it's own according to the EP's preference.

It sounds very interesting! Let us know how it goes...

I had a freezing balloon catheterisation done by Tim Cripps in 2008 for PAF and it went well. It seems to worked for me as I can do most things apart from getting a bit breathless when I climb more than 45 stairs. I need a rest to go on up but that may be asthma related. Hope all goes well and you don't have too long a wait.

I had one in November after three RF ablations, and there is no real difference in the whole experience as opposed to Rf. Good luck
Thanks it is very reassuring to know that others have not found the procedure too unpleasant.
