AF in the Artic Circle

Always strikes when least welcome - this time on a boat whale watching out of Akureyril (Iceland). Saw mainly, whales on route & at least 20 hump backs - 3 breaches, 2 eye hopping & lots of blows & logging on the surface.

Funniest blunder - Hubble, standing next to Andrew Cooper who is David Attenborough's film producer, tried to take photo of humpback turning about 5 m away with his IPhone whilst all around had their telephoto lens out. He then realised he had inadvertently taken a selfie! LOL. Well we can dine out on that one!

Nothing like a bit of distraction to take mind off your heart. Oh & the heat, Iceland's cool!

Best wishes CD

Sounds fun . Hope you are OK now.

What a great story. Guess it was the excitement of seeing whales live right there in front of you that set you off. Worth it I bet.

We want to go to Iceland. On next year's list I think.

We're doing whale watching in Vancouver Island later this year. Think it's mainly Killer Whales as far as I know. It'll be interesting to see if my ticker reacts when we get close to an Orca whilst in an inflatable.

Koll 🐋 😳

You will love that Koll - my son lived in Oregon for a few years & we took a trip up there & he then went on to help with the Orca research stationed up there.

The AF started before we got onto the boat, it's every other day now, but life goes on. My husband held my legs in the air whilst valsalva done & it calmed after an hour or so. Strangely non-one commented or asked what we were doing. Quite nice to be ignored!

Look up the UK Orca site - if you join you could help their research.

I loved Vancouver Island - very wild when you get out of town. We explored on horseback & had a few interesting moments.

Quiet day today I think.

I went whale watching off Boston, USA, two years ago. I was the only person who actually saw a whale - the other 100 people were all gawping at their mobile phones.

Have a lovely holiday.

Saw so many cetations, various dolphins & Minky whales en route, 19 sightings coming into fjord & over 20, many very close to the boat.

We are loving it - enjoy! X

great to hearfrom you enjoying yourself and challenging the major irritations of your medical issues. I saw whales in SA late last year, whilst in full AF mode. Their grace and beauty was so overwhelming, reduced me to tears and my condition to insignificance. Enjoy being cool!
