If you take Flecainide twice a day, what's the favourite time, and do people take it 'on an empty stomach or an hour before food'?

Ideally you should take them as near possible to 12 hours apart but don't worry if you are an hour or so out as things can happen to get in the way. You can take them before or after food and I have always taken mine with food as I find it helps to remember them. Have my first one with cup of tea and biscuit in morning and evening one with supper. Best information though is on the leaflet in the box you get. Hope it helps.

I take mine at 7am and 6.30 pm that is roughly an hour before I eat but If I have to eat straight after taking the tablet for some reason I don't panic. Taking it before eating is only to increase the absorption rate and if you take it twice a day your blood serum levels will be fairly constant anyway. Others may do it differently though.x

I used to take Flecainide first thing in the morning too and then about 6.30 at night, but I discussed it with my GP recently, wondering if I could be better protected from waking up with AF (it doesn't start up during the day) by having a dose before I go to sleep. I take 150mg twice a day and wondered about 100mg three times a day, but I'm currently taking 150 at about 11.15 night and morning. Have had no AF since I started this, but can go for weeks without it - and then have two sessions within a few days.

I take on an empty stomach as can make me nauseous when I eat either 1hour before or after taking it.

Thanks for that. Have not had a problem myself, but was curious about how important others consider the timing.

Since asking the question, by chance I found it dealt with very usefully earlier. Sorry. Not sure I have fully fathomed the depths of this forum and wonder if numbering questions ever been considered.
