Hi all i have been off all meds for one week now, as cardioligist wanted to bring on an attack so he can see on ecg what is going on, but other then a few strong palpitations i have not really had any thing happen, i find this strange as i really thought once i stop my meds then af would start up again, any ideas do you think perhaps im ok now?
No Meds: Hi all i have been off all... - Atrial Fibrillati...
No Meds
This often happens Kazzy. It is called Sod's law. I had the same with my monitor last week. Three months of ectopics and zap nothing when I wanted it recorded. Don't get your hopes up though as I would be amazed if that was it.. I wish!!! Just live every day one day at a time and try not to worry what may not happen.

Hi Kazzyr, may I ask what meds you were on? Only I can only think that coming off rhythm control would bring on an AF episode, in my non medical brain, a rate control med is only ensuring that episodes have lower heart rates not preventing them.
But I also agree with Bob, since when do our bodies react the way we want them to?. Sod Law exactly.

Hi i was on Dronedaron 400mg twice a day bisoprolol 5mg once a day. have been on them for around 4 to 5 years.

I have bought on the advice of my cardiologist an 'aliveCor' Heart monitor (promoted by the AFA) that slips onto my Iphone like a cover. Once you have downloaded the free App you are ready to go. Basically it will record a basic ECG which you can save and then e-mail to the Cardiologist. This allows you to record all the times your heart is actively playing about in AF which gives them the information they need. As you know the chances of having your heart performing while at the hospital can be pretty remote unless you've taken yourself to A & E.
Unfortunately i do not have an Iphone, but thank you anyway
Jazzy they have brought out a version for any smart phone, it's available in the US & expect to see it soon here in UK. It also works with an iPad, found that out at the patients day! It has been a godsend for me as my EP is in London & I live in south west so I just email him my traces and arrange a tel consultation as & when required.
Hi Woolfie,
I also have an AliveCor heart monitor
Like you I find it useful to be able to show the GP/Cardiologist the readings when I am in AF.
I also use it to demonstrate to family and friends what is happening to the old ticker when I am in AF and feel like a chocolate teapot. Most people have a basic understanding of how an ECG reading looks and when they see the irregularity of the ECG in AF it seems to make the condition more real especially, if a couple of days later I am in normal sinus rhythm and behaving like a spring lamb.
Take care.

Hi Kazzyr
My pills are supposed to take 3 days t get out of the system, so when I had a monitor fitted last week, I stopped 4 days before just to be sure. But nothing happened, after a year of daily arrhythmia and never having a normal pulse, I was just normal. Took the monitor back after a wasted 24 hours and didn't take any more pills for a couple more days. But then my arrhythmia started again just very slightly, so back on drugs for me. The drugs I'm on (Disopyramide) seem slow to take effect, so presumably slow to get out of the system?
I was beginning to think maybe there's such a thing as chemical cardioversion!
Hope you stay clear.
