Finally decided to take the correct dose of flecanide after non stop worrying about possible side effects. Well, so far so good. I am 3 days into the correct dose and so far no terrible side effects except I am very tired. The best news is that after the first 100mg tablet the A.F. went and hasn't come back as yet. I know it is early days yet but if it continues I reckon I can put up with tiredness in return for saying goodbye to the floppy fish ! Fingers crossed and thanks to all of those who responded to my questions. X

Started correct dose of flecanide.
That's great dedeottie, what a relief. I'v just gone onto Propafenone which works for me, so I know how great it is not to have a fluttering heart and to feel reasonably normal. I still flutter after eating for a few minutes, and going to bed, but that's nothing.
Happy Christmas.

I've recently started Flecainide, (100mg) instead of Bisoprolol, (2.5mg) which was effective in keeping the AF episodes away, but made me feel cold a lot. Do you, or does anyone else know why Flecainide is prescribed twice a day, when Bisoprolol is only once a day, and does it matter if the evening dose is missed? That's the one I keep forgetting to take, I haven't had any AF, and feel well, with good energy levels, so I'm wondering what would happen if I just took the 1 dose each day in the morning.
Hi biker boy. I think a dose of flecanide loses around half its effect after 12 hours whereas bisoprolol is a 24 hour med.without the meds my A.F. would be there .most of the time so I take both doses religiously each day. Everyone is different with this med so you may be able to negotiate but I would run it past your doctor first. Hope it all goes well.
Wondeful relief ! Hope this helps you to enjoy Christmas... nice present.
Am so pleased for you. I am on the same dose as you, don't feel tired all the time but get a wave of exhaustion sometimes - lasts about 10 mins if I sit down and relax and as you say - small price to pay
Ive been taking it for 16 months, since then no real AF issues. Works a treat. I keep in touch with my specialist by email and all seems fine. No side affects that i can see or feel. On braver days or two i dont take the prescribed dose and tnen return on day 3, this again is ok according to my specialist at Oxford. I think this is called the pill in the pocket approach. I wouldnt stop taking it for good as i know the AF will return, but to regulate it as my body reacts feels a lor better giving back a little more control. Dont worry about your medicine, for all the side affects noted on the guidance very few people have a negative reaction.
Its a part lf your life, accept it, and enjoy it.
And dont forget ' exercise ' the more you do the fitter you are, the better your heart is and the healthier you will be.
