Can anyone with Asthma/COPD tell me how they cope when they need to use their Reliever inhaler. I have tried to avoid using mine as it makes the heart race and last time caused a hospital admission with AF, but the past two days I have had a very low Peak Flow and feel I would benefit from a puff or two.
I would love to hear how others with both conditions manage their Asthma and AF.
You really need to have this conversation with your consultant on how best to take this forward. I too had the same issue but am lucky in the fact that my Asthma symptoms are very weak now anyway.
There are things out there that can be offered so don't worry too much about it. You don't have to choose between medication for Asthma or AF.
I've been given a tablet to reduce my asthma as the inhaler causes AF. It works so far and has completely removed the asthma symptoms.
I also have the same problem with my blue inhaler so could you tell me the name of the tablets so I can ask my doctor for some now that the winter is here.

I had childhood asthma but this went away into adulthood. It didn't come back until I was prescribed sotalol.
It is a side effect of beta blockers and for me bisoprolol was much much worse than sotolol.
I had a permanent whistle in my chest even when breathing felt fine and daily asthma around bed time when I felt quite strong symptoms.
My cardio wanted to try these tabs because he thinks at the moment Sotalol is the best for me at suppressing my arythmia.
I got them last week and overnight the whistle and the night wheeze went away. I have tried mild exercise with them and see an improvement there too although I still get breathless if I do too much.

Would you please let me know the name of the tablet. It sounds much better than my "hit and miss" approach to either Af or Asthma. I would prefer neither but that is not on offer.

Hey for sure, I've got the tablets in my pocket but it's written in Japanese. I'll dig out the prescription and get back to you all. I've only used it for a few days but it's a revelation. I can go to bed without wheezing.
In addition, my doc in the UK stopped me using asthma inhalers after a year of AF induced by them. I only had AF attacks during the hay fever season when I would wheeze like a 60fags a day smoker.
It took ages for the doc to listen to me as each time I went to the surgery I was symptom free.
But, since then the medication made it a problem again.
