Confused. Com. My cardiologist has now took me off varapomil 40mg 3 times a day to half secoron sr 120mg twice a day and flecainide 50mg . Confused because one is used to treat conditions such as angina and high blood pressure and the other one is for irregular heartbeats and high blood pressure. I don't have high blood pressure and although my heart rate is fast and likes to miss or add extra beats i don't think its irregular?! Is there anyone else on here with SVT and on same treatment. I start taking new meds tomorrow and the list of side effects on both is terrifying! !

Im having frequent SVT attacks since my ablation two months ago

Currently I'm on sotalol to slow and regulate the heart rate ( also I'm a low BP by nature ) along with wafarine

Sotalol side effects are very annoying for me also such as dizziness , increased migraine , chest tightness upon effort ,minor asthma symptoms , don't know if my anxiety related also to it!

Sotalol didn't completely controlled SVT but it helped for the ectopic beats

I believe there is no medication without side effects , and I noticed all rythem control are critical in this regard , and everybody react differently for the same medicine

Also the body needs time to get used to the medicine

Hope you will better soon

Regards

They seem to be having trouble finding the right medication for me as I cannot take beta blockers or blood thinners hence why they can't do ablation either as I would have to be on blood thinners for 3 months after. But fingers crossed they find a good balance for me soon

Try not to worry claireskyblue I have had SVT for just under 2 years and was told that an ablation would be too complicated (gettting another opinion soon) which means Its trial and error for me at the moment, I wont know how long this medication will last either. I don't take blood thinners but do use natural ones in food, perhaps you can do this with a little research and let them know what you are taking this might increase your chances of getting an ablation if you want one. So all is not lost for you or for me.
