Can anyone give me some advice, please? I know I will need help with this one!
I believe there are some cold remedie... - Atrial Fibrillati...
I believe there are some cold remedies that are not recommended when on Warfarin; Verapamil and Digoxin.
Never mind the drugs Jan most cold remedies "can affect heart rhythm". Never ever ever take Night Nurse. Personal experience.-- wanted to die. Thought I might. lol .Many cough mixtures have a warning do not take if you have any heart condition especially ones containing ethanol.. Most cold and flu drugs have a decongestant which can affect some peoples AF.
Old fashioned things like honey and lemon especially with a hot toddy can help sleep. I love Rum and hot milk at bed time if I have a cold and my boys haven't drunk all the rum.
Get you flu jab soon !

Hi Granjan
I always remember what my Mum told me, an untreated cold takes two weeks to clear up and if you take the drugs it's a fortnight
I just don't bother to be honest, honey and lemon maybe a small brandy in my tea
But seriously cold remedies you have to avoid like the plague, no degongestants, nothing with aspirin or ibuprefen.
If you must, and like Bob I urge you not to, then only buy from a pharmacist AFTER you have told them every drug you are on.
take care
Ian
Thank you both so much for your very swift replies. I used to take LemSip just at night , but always "let it come out" for the rest of the 24 hrs; never again though. Now I know I will not touch any cold remedies at all.
Sleep well.
............and I will get my flu jab as soon as possible.
All previous advice is good, especially Night Nurse, avoid like the plague, and Lemsip also. Having been on Warfarin for some 12 years for DCM and AF I have learned to " surf the net" every time I want to try something new. I cease to be amazed at just how much and many conflictions there are with Warfarin. Hot lemon and honey but forget the alcohol it does more harm than good.
