Had abaltion procedure abandoned due to ?long superior cava now after ct scan told large mass preventing access prob fatty mass comments ?

Having Toe week on Thurs told to stop warfarin is this common told i need it for life high risk of stroke due to AF large fatty mass worrying too any comments most welcome thanks

The superior vena carva is the larger of the two main veins which bring used blood back to the heart. Not being an EP I can only guess that the length of this made it difficult to gain access to the atria for isolation of the pulmonary veins. (ablation). I'm not sure why you need to stop warfarin for a TOE (trans oesophageal echocardiogram) but there may be other factors involved. You need to have proper conversation with the EP about what all this means. It sounds rather rare so I doubt too many members have experience.

as i say vena cava no longer the issue its the large fatty mass that is preventing access hence TOE to see if ablation still feasible via groin or will need surgical access. Worrying re stopping warfarin too as most procedures reliant on INR 2-3. As high risk of clot formation thought low molecular weight heparin may have been prescribed.
