Af and treatment.

My husband was diagnosed with AF approx five years ago. He was prescribed 300mg aspirin daily and was never referred to a cardiologist, it wasn`t until we found the AFA association website that we realised what a risk he has been taking. He has now been back to see his GP to ask if he could be referred to a cardiologist, the doctor still insisted that there was no need but gave in after my husband said he would go and see another GP, so thanks to everyone who gave us advise on this. Hopefully he will be prescribed with a proper coagulant and be at less of a risk of having a stroke.

hi Pamelaboam

So pleased that you've won the battle with your doctor as it's very important to be on an anti coagulant... I was left far too long but now I'm on one of the newer drugs not Warfarin. Hope it all goes well from now on .

take care both of you

Thanks for letting us know Pamela, 5yrs on high dosage aspirin and not even a referral to a cardiologist, let alone an EP. Grrrrrrr, it does make us angry. I hope he gets onto an anti-coagluant soon.

take care

Thank you everyone for your comments, we are hoping it won`t be to long before he gets an appointment to see a cardiologist. We will let you know as soon as it happens. Once again thank you.
