The data is indisputable. Even with that your MO may not have recommended it because it is not SOC and the reason for that is insurance won't pay for it.

It is up to us to make the decision for ourselves.

I personally lucked out because of good friends who go to the gym three days a week and they pick me up to go with them. 15 months later I feel so much better, I stand up straighter, I feel prepared for my Total Knee Replacement in a couple of weeks, and people tell me how much better I look.

I go to Chuze fitness for $10.00 a month for Basic Membership. I do all of the major muscle group strength training machines, alternating uppers and lowers for 45 minutes 3 days a week. I started with light weight and 10 reps and slowly added weight and reps to 15 based on my ability not to hurt myself. I use an app called HeavySet to log me workouts.

At this point I go to they gym when my friends can't and I have recumbent bike at home for off days.

Good luck with the TKA Tom🍀 . My wife had one knee done 2 weeks ago and I was amazed at her progress which she attributes to being fit and strong. 💪

Same here. After a year I noticed my legs were not getting enough attention, so added 20 Sit-Stands, 2 stair flights, and walking a half mile around the track to the daily routine.

Welcome to the club! It sure has improved my life too! Who knew a guy at 80 could develop the top three rows of a six pack. An additional motivation is the “eye candy”.

Once that knee is done remember to add back the aerobics into the mix.

I would like to add that a) exercise is free; b) it can increase longevity; c) it can support brain function; and d) it probably increases survival rates for people with cancer.

Some Medicare supplement plans provide free gym memberships (like my AARP UnitedHealthcare plan).

A couple winters ago I began hiking on trails when the weather was too wet or too cold for cycling. Luckily, we have a wonderful land preserve nearby with hiking trails and hills that provide a great workout. A side benefit is that being in nature with the wildlife and away from the rat race is a sort of mediation. Use of hiking poles and stretching (before and after) resolved pain triggered by spinal stenosis.

My oncologists consider regular exercise to be standard of care.
