Any adverse effect if taking three-month Lupron shot two weeks late?

Hi friends, my father has been on Lupron shots every three months with Abiraterone pills for about a year now. His next shot will be 14 weeks due to some insurance problems. What is the ideal and acceptable time range between shots that won’t risks benefits of treatment? What is the out of pocket price for one shot? Thanks!

Two weeks will not make a difference, testosterone will not recover that quickly.

I’ve been on both medications and, based on my personal experience, it shouldn’t hurt to wait the extra weeks till your next Lupron depot

I did one-month shots every five weeks and T stayed below target of 12mg/dl. YMMV.

Yes, two weeks can make a difference, especially with adjuvant hormone therapy. However, the abiraterone may sustain his low T level in the interim.

In my experience, Lupron takes a long time to recover from. I took a break from it and the low T stayed for months after the expiration date.

I've been two weeks late at least once, and almost three weeks late another time. These both occurred after being on Lupron continuously for over 2.5 years or longer.

If it caused issues, I couldn't tell either through scans or imaging.

My testosterone recovered about 8 weeks after the “end-date” of my 4-month Eligard shot. I’d push to get treatment on the suggested timeline because you cannot count on your experience to be the same as others receiving like medications.

On Lupron during first two years of Prostate cancer treatment, it was effective. Doctor switched me to Eligard seven years ago where I’ve been ever since.

You are not castrate resistant even after 7 years?

In my sixth year on Lupron, I missed one of my injections and did not get one for 4 months when the next injection was due. Nothing happened. I am now in my 11th year of Lupron but am being careful to not miss any injections.

Absolutely no worries whatsoever as you can see from others that missed as the lupron stays in your system for two months before t returns. As long as you don’t miss two months or more you will b fine n even then Sandy stated he missed 4 month's n nothing happened. He’s in his eleventh year, proof is in the pudding…😁
