I've always had normal blood pressure, but since taking Orgovyx and Xytiga it is very high when I first wake up.157 over 90. Concerned about that.

Are you physically active? Exercise a lot? How about diet and nutrition? There are lots of moving pieces here.

I do excise a lot, but I'm only a few months from 87. Thanks for your advise.

I can't recall whether I previously responded to your submission but, I recently read that bananas are pretty effective at lowering BP. Of course, a diet high in fruits and veggies tends to be helpful in general, but bananas were singled out in the article.

I myself was just dx with high BP about 3 months. I think this may have been missed or overlooked by my MO and internist for a few years.

Original food of humans used to be fruits and berries in the jungle....such foods were low in Sodium but high in Potassium. With modern age...came need to pack and preserve foods in solutions loaded with Sodium. So now, people are taking almost 5 to 7 times Sodium requirement and intake of potassium is 1/4 to 1/3rd of what body needs. This excessive Sodium is a factor in high blood pressure besides of course genetic risk and tendency of hardening of arteries . Reducing Sodium to 1/2 the amount and increasing Potassium to 2 times can balance the electrolytes. Eating lot of vegetables and Fruits and avoiding sodium preserved food can lower blood pressure. I do this. Plus I also use "HALF SALT " for cooking which has 50% Sodium and 50% Potassium. Its available on Amazon. BTW, Chronic high blood pressure takes a very long time (10-15 years )to kill a person. The heart starts getting enlarged due to high BP and eventually becomes "SHOE SHAPED" occupying most of left side of chest. Its called Cardiomegaly...it leads to weak heart muscles and much reduced pumping capacity...finally the heart stops due to congestive heart failure. Its a slow process though. Potassium rich food certainly help. Bananas are high potassium very good fruit. Careful if your kidneys are weak and can not flush potassium efficiently.

This is an informative post. Ty

For me since I don’t use salt, I like Ms Dash for seasoning. I also walk five or more days a week, and eat mostly vegetables and some fruits. The DASH diet helped me ( dietary approach stopped hypertension)

I now have normal blood pressure but it took me awhile, :)

Please write some other posts, so we can all benefit from them. :)

Certainly. I would like to write something which is worthy of time of friends here. In the mean time Lets not forget a golden saying " What is Good for Heart is Good for Prostate and vice versa."

Discuss increasing your prednisone dosage slightly. Possibly you are not getting adequate replacement for the cortisol lost to Zytiga.

Hi, took it again 3 hours later and now it's almost below normal, e.g. 112 over 59. I don't know what to think.

Thanks, but I switched from Prednisone to Dexamethasone.

I had a similar reaction to starting zytiga. My blood pressure was always very good, but spiked for about a month when starting zytiga. It then settled back down on its own after my body adjusted.

By the way, I had the same reaction when coming off zytiga two years later. The elevated blood pressure was for about 2 1/2 weeks, except morning pressure was fine but afternoon and evenings were 165 top number. Now it back to 120/78 or so. .

"... always had normal blood pressure, but since taking Orgovyx and Xytiga it is very high when I first wake up.157 over 90."

I am 81 with high blood pressure, taking Losartan and Hydrochorothiazide for the past two years which holds it down to 120 +/- 5. I started Orgovyx in Dec and Zytiga in Feb, and the pressure went up about 5-10 points. Early this morning it was 134/81.

Tango65 had a good post on this awhile back: healthunlocked.com/advanced...

Thanks for your input, especially that we are in similar age zones. I hopefully turn 87 in June.
