Hey all,

My father who started at 226PSA has finished radiation treatment about a year ago.: and remains on ADT.

his PSA was sitting 0.03 but has jumped to 0.08. Is this any cause for concern?

I took it as a positive as it sounds extremely low but now second guessing ..

Please set up an appointment with the doctor. The doctor will not worry until it reaches two or more. At the same time, he may start with bicalutamide.

It's never good to see PSA increase but I would wait for the next one or two before you get too concerned.

It is so odd for it to have that slight increase despite being on ADT and still something like 18 months left of it. Very minor increase and still under the 0.1 so assuming it can't be anything TOO bad. Also I had thought the test alone has some play in it where something so minor could be chalked up to nothing more.

His doctor talked to him this morning and said we're still good so I hope that is true. The drug store messed up and didn't have his shot ready so now will have to wait for Monday before getting this next shot. Seems minor but now I am concerned because apparently it is very time sensitive to get this shot.. hope this 5 day delay on the next shot doesn't have any bad play on this

Tests can vary between labs or be effected by certain activities or other factors. Thats why you really need to wait for the next one. It's all about waiting for the next result, blood or scan, from here on out. Sorry to here about the drug store and I am not sure what he is on but once on these drugs for a long enough I doubt a few days will make a huge difference. Thats just my opinion but it has been the case with my shots which haven't been exactly on 3 months. Even the concept of 3 calender months isn't strict.

Hope this helps. Your father is blessed to have you.

My doctors focus on 'doubling time.' PSA numbers can be very low but if they start doubling in successive tests, my docs get worried. That's what happened with my PSA scores last year so I started ADT last September, with Orgovyx, Zytiga and Prednizone. Side effects have been weight gain and an increase in blood pressure. Initially, I experience hot flashes 25-30 times per day but thankfully, they are rare now. Best of luck to you and your father.

He still has a prostate, so he will always have some PSA. As long as his T level is very low, te slight PSA may be from some cancer cells dying, which is a good thing.

Any uptick in the Psa for anyone with Pca is always nerve racking..... So try to go with the flow and worry like all of us do...... If possible, I think you should join in on any meetings between your Dad and his doc(s)...Ask questions, take notes...... Give your DAD my regards..... Oh and you're a wonderful offspring.....
